This installment of #WednesdayWisdom is valid for all event organizers, but especially pageant directors, and outlines why you need a website.
Why You Need A Website
All businesses need a website. A website is your primary home for all the information you need to share with your customers. It tells people you’re serious about your event and you’re legitimate. Few people pay for a domain, get a hosting service, and create a website and then fall off the face of the earth. Businesses who invest in a website are more likely to be legitimate, especially in pageantry.
It’s not enough to say “Follow Us On Socials”
Facebook and Instagram have their uses, but as a repository of information, they don’t cut it. Instagram is great for showing pictures and short video clips of what your program is about and what your royalty is doing. Facebook is great for breaking news for your event and marketing to a broad audience. The downside to these platforms is that important information that rarely changes can be lost in the newsfeed. You need a permanent place for things like your delegate handbook, forms, rules and regulations, and more!
Websites Build Trust
Anyone can create a “page” on Facebook for events that may or may not be legitimate. Multiple online groups exist solely to expose pageant scammers. For the most part, those scammers solely operate on social media. Event organizers that have a well-made website are seen as more trustworthy because they put time, money, and effort into creating a vision for their brand. When parents are looking for competitions and your event only has a Facebook page, they will click away. That’s potential lost revenue for you, the organizer.
Not Just Any Website Will Do
