Chances are, if you’re asking this question, you entered the Runway optional contest at NAM Nationals or you saw a post about comp cards/autograph cards being required for some reason.
What is a “comp card”? Also known as model card or zedcard, this is something that models have to give to potential clients during a casting. Generally speaking, it will be double-sided and either 8×10 (headshot size) or 5.5×8.5 oriented either vertically or horizontally. The front will have a headshot that best represents the model – in this case, your contestant – and their name. The reverse will have between 3-4 additional images in a variety of looks/poses to show versatility. There should be no more than 5 images per comp card in total. Additionally, vital statistics will be listed including:
- Name
- Date of birth
- Height
- Weight
- Dress size
- Shoe size
- Measurements
For my daughter’s comp card, I chose to put her headshot on the back side and all pertinent data on the front because hers are printed in the larger 8×10 format. For a smaller format card I have used the standard of name on the front with the headshot.
A model comp card should NEVER use crown/sash photos or stage shots from a pageant! There should be no pageant logos, motivational quotes or clip art.
